Summer is my favorite season of all time! I love the warmer evenings, longer days, and how can I forget to mention beautifully bronzed skin?! With summer weather in California being extremely dry and hot, it can cause your makeup to melt down or crack! I’ve found a few beauty faves that have kept my face looking fresh and bright all summer! Without all of the cracks, dryness, and melting! California babes, this one is for you.
- PUR Minerals Air Perfection CC Cushion Foundation. This foundation comes in a cushion type compact, and is amazingly beautiful. Sometimes, I feel like mineral based makeups can be a hit or a miss. Most of the time they are misses though so this was surprisingly awesome! This product contains SPF which is a must! Sun damage means pre-mature aging on the skin. Say no to wrinkles, ya’ll! It provides sheer to full coverage depending on how many layers you apply. I prefer sheer to medium coverage, so I like that it is buildable. This foundation makes the skin look flawless, and blends beautifully with other cream products. It contains mango seed oil so it keeps the skin luminous and hydrated. It is very reminiscent of the NARS sheer glow foundation formula. I like that this foundation is hydrating because I get so dry in the summer, being that California is more dry than humid. It hasn’t caused my skin to get unusually oily or shiny over a few hours of wear, even in 90 degree weather which is a big plus! I am loving this foundation and I purchased several back ups in case it ever gets discontinued. I bought it in two shades (always) and they perform exactly the same so I appreciate the consistency. All in all, the coverage is great as well as the formula! It being an anti-aging product and sun protectant is the icing on the cake. Mind you, there are only 4 shades available and that’s probably the biggest drawback. Luckily I found a great match for both my summer and winter shades.
- bareMinerals Blush Balm. Another liquid product! By now you must know that I prefer liquids/balms over powders. I prefer creme blush in general, but this product is really special because it is very sheer. It looks very natural and it is very hydrating! It has a slight sheen to it, so it kind of acts as a natural luminizer. I normally dab argan oil on my cheekbones for a natural highlight, and hydrating appearance. It is much more natural and appealing in my opinion, compared to a shimmery highlighter. This blush is great for people with dry skin and prefer a more natural look. It reflects like beautifully and just makes you glow without all of the shimmery-ness of a shimmered highlighter! I like to use a bit of this on my lips too for a subtle flush of color.
- PIXI Undercover Crayon. I love this correcting crayon! It comes in a twist up stick form, and it is in a peachy shade that helps brighten up darkness on the skin. I apply this under my eyes, around my nose and in the corners of my lips. After blending it out, it creates a really great and brightening base for concealer or foundation. I have dark circles (hereditary) and this brightens up my face without looking too “fake”. It is undetectable and brings out brightness in my skin that I didn’t even know I had! I think this product may be silicone based, so it helps keep my concealer and foundation in place especially during warmer weather. Overall, a great on-the-go product to make skin appear brighter and to color correct dark spots/areas on the skin!
- Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip – “Bumble”. I think most people like Colourpop products because they are AMAZING, and they are sooo afforadable! I recently bought a few (okay I bought a lot) ultra matte lips and my favorite has to be “bumble”. It is the perfect “edgy” shade for almost any occasion, without being too crazy. It is almost like a burnt clay hued red-orange. It reminds me of Limecrime’s “riot” liquid lipstick! The formula is very opaque, non-flaking and light wearing. It is also transfer proof, so it wont get all over my teeth when I scarf down my bagel and coffee. One application lasts me about 3-4 hours so I am not constantly reapplying it. Definitely a staple in my makeup arsenal now!
