High fashion, for cheap! This DIY choker is easy, and chic!
Chokers are definitely a hot thing at the moment, but honestly, when have they not been? I remember chokers being a thing in the 90’s, and if anything they where also really popular during the Victorian Era (that’s the 1830’s-1900’s y’all.
Kendall and Gigi have been obsessed with chokers & whatever they’re obsessed with is probably really amazing! They’ve been seen wearing one almost everywhere and with anything. Literally. Kendall has been known to shop for chokers that are in the $60-$80 range, which is insane for us regular people.
So, do I need to spend top dollar for choker? Hell no!
With a little spirit and a trip to Beverly’s, I was able to make a few for under $20. Yup! $20. I repeat, $20.
Check out my easy DIY, and maybe you can be as cool as Kendall and Gigi on a dime (i’m sure you’re way cooler, though).
- Ribbon or lace of your choice
- Sewing Needle
- Sew-on snap buttons
Cut the ribbon so that it can fit somewhat snug around your neck. Some people might want to use measuring tape for this, but I just went ahead and wrapped the ribbon around my neck and eyeballed it. Skills.
After you’ve got the right length, cut a piece of velcro that can fit right onto the ends of your ribbon.
You’re gunna want to attach these velcro pieces onto the ends of the ribbon so when they are joined together, they stay put. I could’ve used fabric glue to adhere the velcro pieces, but I chose to sew it on using a sewing needle and black thread. It should come out like this:
After you are able to secure the velcro onto the ends of the ribbon, try it on and make sure it fits well. It should be able to close like this:
That’s it, you’re done! You can do this with any kind of ribbon or lace that you like!
